Research Field

Agricultural Economics

Research Theme

The agricultural product market and farmers have been the main themes of my research on agricultural economy. As regards the former, I have monitored the Japanese dairy product market following the agricultural agreement at the Uruguay Round, and at the same time, studied the development process of the southern European agricultural market, livestock in particular, and how it corresponds with common agricultural policies. With regard to farmers, I have also researched what is required to secure human resources in the agricultural business; i.e. new types of farmers through employment opportunities offered by agricultural corporations; those who have become farmers after moving to agricultural areas; and agricultural contractors to private companies.
